Bantry Bay: Cape Town’s Ocean View Gallery

By Joanna Hurlston

When it comes to Bantry Bay, it’s all about the view! I absolutely love visiting this small seaside paradise and just soaking in the splendour of the endless azure waves.

The area is a small stretch, but it encompasses some of the best views of the Atlantic Ocean. And although there aren’t too many places to visit, Bantry Bay is just a stone’s throw away from some truly impeccable places to grab a bite and a refreshing glass of wine.

These are a few of my absolute favourites in and around the ocean-side paradise – so without further ado – ta-daa! Have a peek and try them out for yourself.

WINING & DINING

the bungalow clifton

The Bungalow, Clifton

The Bungalow tops this list because it’s just a few minutes away from Bantry Bay, and perfectly showcases the best thing about the Atlantic Seaboard, which is (obviously) the magnificent ocean! This is is one of Cape Town’s most opulent spots to frequent, and doing so comes along with the full VIP treatment. Absolutely perfect for losing track of time with your favourite people

Divine, sweeping views, beautiful sun-kissed people and comfortably cushioned seating for long, lazy Sundays  I like to enjoy one of the many great cocktails. My personal favourite is their classic mojito!

La Mouette

La Mouette, Sea Point

This little gem is also just a few minutes from Bantry Bay. Set up in a charmingly wholesome courtyard, the ambience is calm and the staff are very professional, and the entire set up feels like it’s been snatched up from somewhere in the leafy suburbs and placed in one of Sea Point’s busiest locations.

La Mouette offers delicious, seasonally-inspired menus which change regularly (so you have to return frequently to sample each new batch!) The owners are delightful and the atmosphere is refined – the wine is excellent too. Frankly, it’s the whole package and without a doubt, one of my favourites.

the-roundhouse

The Roundhouse, Camps Bay

And last but not least: The Roundhouse in Camps Bay. The restaurant specialises in contemporary South African cuisine with a modern European twist – an approach as historical as the building itself, which was built in 1786 and has been remodeled endless times since!

They pride themselves on using seasonal ingredients have and have an exquisite knack for tailored food pairings. Definitely worth a visit!

Portman Place, Outside dinning area and swimming pool

Portman Place

This lovely family villa is located in Bantry Bay, walking distance to Sea Point and the beach promenade so it’s a great location. A quick drive to the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, you couldn’t ask for a more central and easy to be location.

clarion-house-57

Clarion House

Clarion House sits high up upon Lion’s Head mountain overlooking beautiful Bantry Bay and the magnificent, far-reaching Atlantic ocean. This superb 5 bedroom house offers modernist architecture and sophistication, minimalist furnishings and fittings. These aspects combine to create relaxing rooms with a pleasant feel – uncluttered, modern and easy on the eye.

We’d love to have you!

Until next time,

Salut!

Love,
