If high-end travel is something you’re passionate about, it’s almost impossible that you haven’t heard of Camps Bay. It’s one of the most affluent areas in South Africa, and there are countless reasons why it’s one of the most sought after holiday destinations in the world. The combination of palm-fringed platinum sands and cyan seas make it home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and in the festive season, it’s brimming with holiday-fueled elation and the scent of sunscreen on beautiful sun-kissed holiday-goers. But there’s much more than to Camps Bay than it’s natural beauty: the variety of bars and restaurants border on overwhelming, and while it’s located within the throes of breathtaking beauty, it’s still just a stone’s throw away from the bustle of The Mother City. All things considered, it’s pretty tricky not to fall in love.
What To Do:
When you tire of sunbathing and shopping at the array of seaside stores, there are loads of other activities on offer that promise to occupy your time effectively. The restaurants and bars in Camps Bay are known for being some of the best in the world, and they extend across an impressive variety of cultures and dining styles – from The Raj Indian Restaurant, to the contemporary European Roundhouse restaurant, to the stylish Mediterranean Mezepoli – and everything in between. It’s also home to a Pieter Thorien’s Theatre On The Bay: a modern venue which boasts some of the best local and international theatre performances in The Western Cape, from comedy, to cabaret and stylish bistro dining. They’ve hosted numbers such as The Mystery of Irma Vep, Little Shop of Horrors, Sherlock Holmes and gut-wrenching comedic acts by “Tannie” Evita Bezuidenhout – a treat for locals and tourists alike.
